# TSB - Platform Compatibility and System Requirements

TSB ensures a secure, locked-down environment for online assessments on Windows and macOS devices, preventing access to unauthorized applications and maintaining test integrity.

Before starting your Talview assessment, ensure your device meets the minimum platform and network requirements listed below. Incompatible systems may prevent exams from launching or cause interruptions during proctored sessions.

***

### **Prerequisites**

* Admin rights on the device to install or update applications
* Stable internet connection
* Functional webcam and microphone
* Permissions granted for camera, microphone, and screen sharing at system level to Secure browser

***

### **Platform Compatibility**

| Platform | Supported Versions | Notes |
| :- | :- | :- |
| **Windows** | Windows 10 (Version 1909 and above), Windows 11 | Fully supported for TSB |
| **macOS** | macOS 14+ | Fully supported for TSB |
| **Linux** | Browser-based assessments only | TSB not supported |
| **Chrome OS** | Browser-based assessments only | TSB not supported |

> ⚠️ TSB is not supported on mobile devices, tablets, or virtual machines.

***

### **Hardware Requirements**

| Component | Requirement |
| :- | :- |
| **Processor** | A modern multi-core processor |
| **Memory (RAM)** | Enough free memory to run your exam smoothly |
| **Graphics** | Built-in or dedicated graphics |
| **Webcam, Microphone & Sound** | A working webcam, microphone, and sound output, built-in or external |
| **System Load** | Close other applications before your exam so your device isn’t overloaded |
| **Disk Space** | Enough free storage to install and update Secure Browser |
| **Power** | Charger connected throughout the exam. A power backup is recommended for long sessions |

### **Software Requirements**

**Operating Systems:**

* Windows 10 or 11
* macOS 14+

> [!TIP]
>
> Linux and Chrome OS only support browser-based tests; TSB installation not available.

### **Browser Requirements (for browser-based tests):**

* Google Chrome (latest to 3 versions prior)
* Microsoft Edge (latest to 3 versions prior)
* Mozilla Firefox \[latest to 3 versions prior]
* Safari (macOS) \[latest to 3 versions prior]

**Permissions:**

* Administrator rights are required to install or update TSB.
* Camera, microphone, and screen-sharing permissions must be granted during setup.

**Updates:**

* TSB automatically updates at launch.
* Launch TSB **15–20 minutes before the exam** to allow updates to complete.
* If you are facing any issues in updating Secure Browser, uninstall all previous versions and install the new version.

***

### **Network & Bandwidth Requirements**

For stable performance during live or recorded proctoring, ensure your connection meets the following parameters:

| Parameter | Minimum | Recommended |
| :- | :- | :- |
| Connection Type | Wi-Fi acceptable if stable | Wired Ethernet preferred |
| Bandwidth | 512 Kbps | 5 Mbps |
| Latency | Less than 150 ms | Less than 80 ms |
| Jitter | Less than 30 ms | Less than 20 ms |
| Packet Loss | Less than 1% | 0% |

***

### **Additional Technical Considerations**

**Corporate or Managed Devices:**

* May require IT assistance for admin rights, firewall permissions, or proxy whitelisting.

**Not Supported:**

* Multiple monitors\*\*:\*\* Not supported unless your exam allows it. Use only one screen during your exam. Any additional monitor connected during the exam will show a black screen.
* Virtual environments (VMware, Citrix, etc.)
* VPNs, screen recorders, and remote access tools

**Best Practices:**

* Close unnecessary background apps before launch
* Restart your system before the test
* Use a wired connection for better stability
* Keep webcam and microphone active and unobstructed

### **Quick System Check (Recommended)**

#### **Internet Connection Check**

Before your exam, verify that your internet connection is stable and meets the required speed for proctored sessions.

* **Speed Test:** Run a quick test at [Talview Speed Test](https://speed.talview.com/) to ensure a **minimum speed of 5 Mbps** for both download and upload.
  > *Tip: A wired Ethernet connection provides better stability than Wi-Fi.*

#### **Camera and Microphone Test**

Your device must have a working camera and microphone for identity verification and continuous monitoring during the test.

* **Hardware Check:** Visit [Talview Run Diagnostics](https://docs.talview.com/candidates/system-diagnostics/run-diagnostics.md) to confirm your **camera, microphone, and system audio** are functioning properly.
  > *Ensure you allow all browser permission prompts for camera and microphone access.*

#### **Run Diagnostics**

Launch Secure browser and [Run Diagnostics](https://docs.talview.com/candidates/system-diagnostics/run-diagnostics.md) to check if any restricted applications are open. If you see the warning for applications being open, follow the instructions on screen and close the applications. This ensures smooth experience when attending the session in Secure Browser.
