When monitoring candidates during proctored assessments, you may find that proctoring alerts are not appearing for a specific candidate even though proctoring is enabled. This can prevent you from reviewing flagged behaviors and compromise assessment integrity. This article helps you troubleshoot why proctoring alerts are not visible for a candidate in Talview’s Workflow Tools.

🔎 Troubleshooting Common Issues

What might be wrongHow to fix it
Proctoring is not enabled for the assessmentNavigate to the assessment settings and verify that proctoring is enabled.
Ensure the proctoring is activated before the candidate begins the test.
Candidate has not started the assessment yetProctoring alerts only generate after a candidate starts the assessment.
Check the candidate’s status in the Candidates tab to confirm they have begun the test.
Network or connectivity issues disrupted monitoringUnstable internet connection, VPN usage, or restrictive workplace networks can interrupt the proctoring feed and prevent alerts from being recorded or transmitted to the dashboard.
Candidate’s device or browser is incompatibleThe candidate may be using an unsupported browser or outdated version that prevents proper alert transmission.
Verify the candidate is using**Chrome, Edge, or Firefox ** with the latest updates, and ensure their camera/microphone hardware is functioning correctly.
Browser permissions were denied by the candidateThe candidate may have denied camera or microphone access during onboarding.
Contact the candidate and ask them to refresh the assessment page, then grant the required permissions when prompted.
Candidate left the assessment prematurelyIf the candidate exited or was disconnected before completing significant portions of the test, insufficient monitoring data may have been captured to generate alerts.
Review the candidate’s completion percentage and session duration.

Additional Tips:

  • Check real-time monitoring: Switch to the live proctoring view to see if alerts are being generated in real-time but not displaying in the summary dashboard.
  • Review assessment completion status: If the candidate has already completed the assessment, alerts should be available in the post-assessment recording.
  • Contact candidate immediately: If proctoring failed during the assessment, reach out to the candidate to reschedule with proper setup.
